Job Title: Ward Girl/Ward Attendant Overview: As a Ward Girl or Ward Attendant, you play a crucial role in supporting the smooth functioning of healthcare facilities, such as hospitals, clinics, or nursing homes. Your primary responsibilities involve providing essential assistance to nursing and medical staff, ensuring the cleanliness and hygiene of patient care areas, and contributing to the overall comfort and well-being of patients. Key Responsibilities: Patient Care Support: Assist patients with various activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and ambulation, while upholding their dignity, privacy, and cultural preferences. Room Preparation: Prepare patient rooms and beds for admissions, transfers, and discharges, ensuring that they are clean, sanitized, and equipped with necessary supplies and equipment. Linen Management: Change bed linens, blankets, and towels regularly, following established procedures for handling and laundering, to maintain cleanliness and prevent cross-contamination. Environmental Cleaning: Clean and sanitize patient rooms, bathrooms, common areas, and equipment surfaces according to infection control protocols and facility standards, using appropriate cleaning agents and techniques. Waste Disposal: Collect, segregate, and dispose of medical waste, garbage, and soiled linens in designated containers or disposal areas, adhering to safety guidelines and regulatory requirements. Supply Assistance: Assist in stocking patient care areas, supply closets, and utility rooms with essential items, such as gloves, gowns, masks, toiletries, and medical supplies, to ensure availability for patient care activities. Patient Transport: Escort and assist patients during transfers within the facility, such as to diagnostic imaging departments, rehabilitation areas, or operating theaters, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the process. Equipment Handling: Assist with the setup, operation, and maintenance of medical equipment and devices, under the supervision and guidance of qualified personnel, to support patient care delivery. Communication: Communicate effectively with patients, families, visitors, and healthcare team members, conveying information accurately and promptly, and reporting any concerns or observations to appropriate personnel. Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergency situations, such as code blue alerts or patient falls, following established protocols and providing assistance as directed by healthcare providers. Documentation: Record pertinent information, such as patient activities, observations, and interventions, in accordance with facility policies and procedures, ensuring accuracy and completeness of documentation.
